Web Video : One Facet of the NEW Internet MarketingAuthor: Brad Humphries
Video will continue to improve as the internet generally improves in technology. Video will play very strongly in all markets in which motion is a big factor - one example is the news broadcast. Video clips can be seen all over the web at present. Broadband capability will continue to grow - Taiwan already measures transmission in gigabytes per second even for regular consumer internet use. Video via internet feeds will also cause changes to the total internet experience. People will expect and recieve a more "home entertainment" experience - big screens, remote control selection, sound systems, etc. Neither the consumer nor the "techie" will have to be hunched over a desktop or a notebook unless they prefer it. Along with this movement there will be more integration of regular television systems to computer-based internet systems. This means one large screen can accomodate aerial, cable, satellite, or internet feeds. There will be more integration of other systems as well - such as reading the entire local newspaper on bigscreen or handheld. Mini-documentaries and mini-infomercials will be very common. Just as blogs are being read and become popular - so will internet based video blogs become more sophisticated and more popular. Amateur video feed producers will become professionals - but numerous amateurs will still be popular. Internet Marketing in this culture takes on many new features. Where you may see a logo on a major broadcast or cable program - you will see sponsored videos carrying logos or infomercial bars of small internet businesses or established national companies. You will see commercial breaks and/or marketing simulcasts as well. There is a probability that even network media offerings will become downloadable - from news to regular primetime programming. We may see some made-for-net-movies (remember the made-for-tv movie?). This will personalize the home entertainment atmosphere. You can watch video feeds from local and niche offerings. And you will have syndication services to notify you of new videos constantly arriving in your areas of personal interest. Each person will have their own personalized program guide - but each will be available 24/7, not at specific times, and it will all be downloadable. Of course lesser quality versions of all these videos will be available for your cell phone or mobile interent device. And memberships will become available for pay-per-download or unlimited monthly subscription, etc. These changes are at hand - and internet marketing will become a lot more interesting.
